Hmmm. My initial reaction was 'he's a pillock', but actually I think he was perhaps just being a bit over-sensitive. His usual routine involved picking on people in the front rows, and he felt uncomfortable picking on people in wheelchairs.
Admittedly, he could have done some different material rather than asking people to move seats to accommodate him!
Of course people in wheelchairs haven't got other human *ist characteristics to take the piss out of. Either that or he could have taken the piss out of them AND other people near the front, hed have looked just as bad either way.
Would he have asked the entire front row to move if they were all black? One wonders why he was so unimaginative as to be unable to change anything about his act. Surely he must have known he was violating the DDA by asking the disabled people to move.
Gasp! Minority discrimination! Bunch of people in wheelchairs who automatically get good seating prevent 1700 people from enjoying a good performance by not moving to an equally good part of the venue. Just because they've lost the use of their legs doesn't make them special, it makes them disabled. If it makes for a better show if they move to the sides or aisles, so be it. Yawn. I'm used to being a picked on minority, and I'm happy to accomodate as it doesn't happen that I'm asked to very often. They suck, I have no idea who the guy is - maybe if I knew I'd think differently.
