Don't Look Now

An adaptation of the story is on at the Lyric Hammersmith at the moment, and it's highly recommended.

The sound and lighting design are particularly good, which was why it was odd for the cast not to do the usual wave in their direction at the curtain calls.

Only a couple of other quibbles, coincidentally about the ending.

If you've read the story or seen the film - by the way, if you want a laugh, check out the reviews on Amazon for some people completely misunderstanding it - you know what happens at the end.

If you haven't, why spoil it by having one of the characters pick up something a few seconds earlier?

Getting a good last speech is always tough for the person writing or adapting a play, and here they haven't quite got it right.

The preceeding 100 minutes or so are fab though.
