Bodyguard final episode

My ghod that was pants.

The echoing of the first episode, except that this time it's him in a suicide vest, is good but that's about it on the positives.

Does anyone even vaguely believe that David could make it from his place to Chanel Dyson's Docklands flat given a ten second start without being spotted, never mind shot? The real locations are many miles away, but even with reworked London geography, they're still miles away: no sign of Docklands in the exterior shots of his place.

Does anyone believe he could get into her flat without making it obvious?

Does anyone believe that he wouldn't end up being shot following a senior officer calling for assistance (i.e. going 'Help!') in that way?

Then we've got the dramatic problems that include ..

.. if he needed to use force to keep the switch closed, what happened when he was unconscious?

.. Chanel Dyson's switch from turning him over to helping him.

.. going 'Look! They're the internal baddie!' with zero clues that they might have been. It's ok to wave some red herrings, but was there any reason whatsoever to suspect them before the reveal?

.. Nadia's switch from helpless victim to evil mastermind. There's a dramatic point to be made about assuming that Muslim women are helpless and without agency, but this was "mega clunk" time and having her switch to evil jhadi isn't exactly breaking away from the stereotypes is it? Plus if she's that good a bomb-maker* WTFF is her cell doing letting her be a suicide bomber?!?

.. the final scene. The happy ending should have been left in the edit suite: it works much better if his 'I need help' to the therapist is the end.

I also feel sorry for most of the actors playing the lawyers, most of whom never got a line and so were paid less...

* Not that I'm convinced by those skills. That CPU is way over-spec'd for this and there wasn't anything to make it go 'bang' if the box was opened.
