... and I have finally got around to doing something with www.lovingboth.com, may I point you at the updated article on whatever happened to the bisexual involvement at Pride?

I keep seeing posters for Pride, and the Pride commemorative magazine in weekends. None of them seem to say what it is exactly we're being Proud *about*. It's astonishing...

At the top of the posters it says in small letters "An LGBT Event" or some such, and no explanation of what the LGBT means.

The couple are androgynous enough to be m/m, m/f or f/f.

It's a music festival now, I guess.

Part of me thinks calling it LGBT is an improvement over 'lesbian and gay'.

Most of me still refuses to hand over any money to them.

Proud of helping the organisers make back some of the hundreds of thousands of pounds they lost last year, of course!

For this lot, politics gets in the way of (attempting to make a) profit.

sorry ... I should add I just came across the Pride Trusts accounts and papers this morning for 1994/5 'season' and you aren't /wuite/ right about no-one running off with the money...

(Gets out fingers) 1994/95 was two years after PT started, wasn't it? And a year or two before the name change?

After the collapse of PT, which is the time the comment was intended to relate to, I can remember there being one sponsorship deal that was odd - but I can't remember just what it was... if they paid more than £x, then someone got a large slice of the excess possibly. But no-one suggested bringing Teddy back in handcuffs, for example.

an anon post wouldn't work as I'm probably one of the very few people around still who was involved and knows where some of the bodies are buried. There were four name changes iirc as the first was in 1983 when I first joined the committee that ran it all (we weren't a limited company at all - part of the reason I had a smaller involvement in one later year) when we changed it from 'Gay Pride' to 'Lesbian & Gay Pride' which cause the most almighty difficulties and losses...
