Central heating controls

If you have central heating, is it

a) on a timer?

b) turned on / off manually or via a thermostat?

c) controlled by an app?

Although we could use the timer settings, we use the thermostat for 99% of it. The only timer program is to turn it off at 11:30pm if that's not already happened.

There was a time in London where we used a timer, but given that the days vary and there's little point in having it on when you're not there, it became easier to do it this way.

We don't have any plans to 'app' it, partly because of the controller cost, but also there's no need to have it turn on 30 minutes before we get home etc.

I think you maybe need a “and is the type of heating system/control you have your choice?” question for renters/people who don’t make the decisions in their household/people who live in atypical homes

I have central heating that was installed (and maintained) by the Housing Association. There is a timer but I almost always just turn it on and off manually. There isn’t an app option - it would be nice to be able to warm the flat up when I’m on my way home from being away but obviously that’s been happening less in recent months

We have thermostatic valves on the radiators and I think they don't stat the thermo terribly well. We just turn them to "4" in the morning.

For evenings there is an alarm that goes off on my phone to remind me to turn them off. This is a considerably addition of technology which happened only a few months ago.
