#1 If you're downloading a 650M byte CD image file, don't go 'Oh, I need some space, I'll burn that 550M byte CD image file to a CD and then delete it'. Wait until it's finished, then burn the whole 650M.

#2 If you want to let your video card try to drive your monitor at a higher refresh frequency than it thinks it will accept for a certain resolution, don't try this with your desktop resolution. At best, the screen will go blank, and you'll end up losing all of your unsaved data because you can't see anything and have to reset the PC...
