PC oddness
Jun. 13th, 2006 07:17 pmWhen I switch to my user account on this PC, a series of headlines are displayed in the top left corner: a white on red 'area of the world' box and the headline, white on black.
Currently, the last headline is "Whaling ban faces stiff test at caribbean meeting", which I see is a recent Reuters story carried by assorted news sites.
What's doing this? I haven't knowingly asked for it.
Edit: the only thing I can think of that's been installed recently is the Firefox 1.504 update. Mind you, there's been a reboot in that time and it's been a long while since I had to do that, so it could be more or less anything that's installed itself and been waiting for a reboot to work.
Nothing odd in Task Manager. Why yes, I do have admin rights on this account :/
Edit2: yep, it's Reuters stories - the last two were "China panders to panda lovers" and "China's tally of captive-raised pandas grows", both of which are only showing one source on Google News.
Now, I don't necessarily object to being shown Reuters headlines, but I do not remember asking anything to do so.
Having Task Manager showing when I switch into this account still doesn't show anything odd with high CPU apart from Firefox.
