.. then who?

Obviously I understand why there are people going 'never again' at the idea of voting LibDem again.

But if not them, then who?

Now that they've realised that being green doesn't mean automatically assuming that every alternative health practitioner isn't just peddling made-up woo I'm thinking possibly Greens but am not sure. Harriet Harman is my local MP and I do tend a little towards thinking she does a decent job despite her odious party.

Green - the only palatable party for me now

Vote:
  • LD - but only cos there is no RON
  • Green - which I don't really want to do cos I don't think they're worthwhile and I don't agree with many of their policies.
    or
  • Spoil my paper by writing "never again thanks to #WRB" and "this is not a vote" pointing at lib dems.

No, I'm not happy about it. I strongly believe voting is important after living in Romania in 1998 where my host family talked of not being allowed or able to vote and then the early post communism which was not really democratic (same people, corrupt system).

    Right now? Nobody.
    I'd spoil my ballot paper.

But I am serious when I say never again Lib Dem.

Yup me too. I used to be vaguely interested in politics. But now I'm so jaded it's difficult to care as they do all seem as bad as each other just in different suits.

I've voted Liberal/LibDem since I first voted, in 1972. I've worked for the LDs for years, from being Chair of a constituency, to walking 12 miles in a day to deliver leaflets. And I will NEVER, EVER VOTE FOR THEM AGAIN.

Where now? Don't know. I don't like the idea of spoiling my vote - people died for me to have it - but ... Green, probably, but I'm not happy about it.

More or less what the others here said. I was treasurer of Finchley Young Liberals before I could vote. I helped my mum as teller at elections too. I've never voted Labour but even that crossed my mind, briefly. They I recalled the last government. I've voted Green in local elections, but I too don't agree with many of their policies. Daughter works for Greenpeace and I get lots of 'advice' on being greener so I'd get brownie points. I'd never considered spoiling my paper before but have now.

I predict that the LibDems are going to split: the Liberal Left will merge with the Labour Party at some point, I think. The cracks that were still there when the Liberal Party and the SDP merged have not been papered over as effectively as they could have been, and I see signs of in-fighting amongst people who formerly seemed quite happy to co-exist peacefully.

To this end, I have joined the Social Liberal Forum. If I don't like the direction my party's heading in, the best thing I can do is to be a part of the change I want to see, hence getting more involved rather than less.

I have never voted LD, never trusted them. I would vote green I have in the past or if there was a socialist alternative standing I vote for them.

Nobody. Parliamentary democracy never really got going and voting is taking part in the wrong debate. I will blog on this.
