JoJo sat though, entranced, the entire Ring cycle this afternoon. Admittedly it was the Les Grooms 90 minute version - after five minutes they say "we're now forty minutes in" and keep track like that until with about a quarter of a hour until the end "there's still four hours to go!".

But the queue of people to tell me how impressed they were with her was longer than the queue of people congratulating the performers (and they were very good!)

The way she blew little raspberries when someone was playing the digiridoo probably helped :)

It's free, it's on again at 4pm tomorrow, at the Barbican.

Oh, and remember how jealous I was that Philip Glass was doing Koyaanisqatsi live in Edinburgh? It's at the Barbican in January :)) along with Dracula :)) and three others.

That's our cultural and winsome Jo Anna, eh??!!

They're a French group who dress as bellhops and play brass instruments. When they were last here, it was with Magic Flute and they promenaded us all over the place. 'No problem taking Jo Anna to that - if she needs feeding, we can just wander to the back, if she's noisy, we can just stand further back or distract her with some of the birds etc.'

This time, though, until the very end everyone was sat on the floor in a 'grotto' by the (closed) stalls bar, as most of the action took place along the Rhine (a space between the two groups of the audience) or on small foot-high stages. At one point, she got really restless and I thought, 'Oh no, I'll have to climb over a couple of people, walk along the Rhine, and then get her out to see what's wrong.'

But it was just that the action had moved over to one side of the space and she couldn't see through someone's head. She just wanted to stand on my lap to see what was happening!

Ahhh.
