Office XP query

In order to get rid of the junk that has accumulated on this work PC over the past few years, I have just reinstalled Windows, then Office XP.

Since doing the latter, some program wants to connect to the internet on startup. ZoneAlarm (a very useful software 'firewall') doesn't identify what it is as it makes this request very early on in the startup process.

I'd like it to stop doing it.

So, it's almost certainly something Office XP related, it's not in the startup group and doesn't look to be in the usual registry location. It's not (or shouldn't be) the evil activation process - it thinks it's activated already.

A google ('"office xp" internet connection startup' etc) throws too many possibilities, but this must be documented somewhere...

I have a vague memory about it doing a broadcast to identify other bits of the network it is on but I could be wrong. I don't use Office XP, is it any better than 2000?

errm...

... yes... and no.

Yes - Cos Frontpage XP is much better... As is Publisher XP.

As to the rest of it - Same old same old (well, same old Office that 90% of us will never use 90% of its facilities)

Depends what part of Office 2K you didnt like.

Do you get any details...
