Today at work was 'let's call Ian day' for photocopier sales people.

Each one was eager to buy out our current lease... until they found out how long it has to run (it was renewed not long before I started.)

My favourite was the one who said 'no problem' when I told him, but then wanted to end the call.

"So when you said 'no problem', you meant there was a problem?"

"Umm, er... yes."

Oh, the other sales call was fun. After we went through the wonderful sales call counterscript someone - who uses Colgate - wanted to tell me they could increase traffic to our website. Wonderful.

Q1. Do you have a website?

I'm afraid I collapsed laughing - if they can't be bothered to check that before calling, just how good can they be?

I totally agree, but what fun to have an alternative to "Fuck off and quit calling me" to use on an evening when there's nothing on the telly. Another option is "hold the line Iill get the home owner" - then just leave the phone off the hook.
