Good Omens

The good bits are great, but it's uneven. If it were to get any acting rewards, it's David Tennant who's going to get something ahead of Michael Sheen, isn't it?

For something that retains a solid core of Britishness, it's a particular pity that bits are US-fied, above and beyond some of the casting. The M25 becomes a 'freeway' and the Ministry of Transport is the 'Transportation Department', for example.

But I did like the way the US airbase has a big sign outside saying "U.S. AIRFORCE AIR BASE" outside, rather than "RAF Tadfield" which is what a real one would have.

Killing Eve S2

Having seen it on the US schedule which has just finished, I'm pleased that there isn't a big gap before the UK showing this time, not least as it will be something I can talk about at BiCon this year.

It's another excellent series.

The problem, if you want to call it that, is shown by the way that there are three big confrontations in one episode and the outcome of all of them is obvious from the start of the scenes if you've been paying attention. On the one hand, this means that the character writing is very good rather than being, say, Bodyguard (but you knew this already!) On the other, it means there's not much not dramatic tension in what are supposed to be 'gasp, what's going to happen, gasp' scenes.

Sneaky Pete S3

About a third the way through this. Still very good, but there is some stretching visible.

The Phil Silvers Show AKA Sgt Bilko

I can't remember why I started watching the whole of this on the PC (wanting to use one particular line somewhere?) but sixty-plus years on, it's still better than the vast majority of TV comedy series today. I'm about halfway through the first season - episode 15 - and there's only one so-so episode amongst them.

We are just about to watch series 2
