Annoyingly, the online version of the Metro doesn't actually have most of the stories on it, so the quote might not be entirely accurate... but he's surprised people are complaining about him saying if women shagged more, there wouldn't be any rapes.

The previous story continues, with the venue saying "the number of wheelchair users was not as many as Davidson had observed, saying it was only seven people out of the 34 members of the front row."

I was struck by that story. Mind you, I was also struck by the person who said you shouldn't be able to use rape as a subject of comedy (I haven't got the exact quote 'cos I left it on the bus). Anything can be an appropriate subject for comedy - if and only if the comedy is funny (and for jokes about dark topics to work they invariablly need to be dark jokes).

I didn't comment on this before whilst deciding what my reaction was, i couldn't decide if i was annoyed or amused and i think i'm a mixture of the two.

For one anyone going to a comedy show disabled or not should realise they are liable to get the piss taken out of them. Isn't that most of the fun?

There is also another level of comedy which involves the like of jim davidson and so even he must realise there he will attract an audience with a certain level of tolerance shall we say.

I do find his request for people to move unacceptable cos for most venues you don't get a choice of where to sit, good or bad and so am presuming the same case would apply here.

Heh 7/34 thats almost a 1 in 5 on the front row, an the same statistic for people who have a disability in this country. pretty ironic i think....

So what is it then? This wasn't meant in an anti disabled way as i'm disabled myself.

The fun is in listening to humour. Humour is not confined to taking the piss out of people, far less to their face, so comedians should not assume that their audiences are up for that.
