Grease is cheesiness cubed. But it is a classic nonetheless. I love it, in all its tacky glory. I sing to the songs, and laugh at the characters (except Rizzo, who is cool). You may well be right in saying it is the worst film ever, but there are those of us sad enough to like it regardless.

Mmmm.. and John Travolta can't half wiggle his arse! Although he is definitely sexier now than he was then.

The summer it came out, every girl wanted to see it on a date.

And it is awful. It only has two good songs, and a) they weren't in the original musical and b) given how long they stayed at #1, the videos were shown constantly.

Sgt Pepper is classic too and you had to be there :).

Summer 1967, a volunteer in Israel in the Six-Days War. A kibbutz full of students and other young people of all nationalities, working hard from 4a.m then going to ulpan to learn the language and partying hard into the night; music of psychedelic Beatles LP singing out over the huts and serious kibbutzniks vaguely disapproving of the loose morals of the volunteers.

And on the sabbath riding into Haifa on the bus to visit my family and go to discos with my cousin, who had a pop group, to whom I taught the songs from the LP. We were *so* cool!

The Beatles album is fabulous.

This, however, is the film starring the Bee Gees et al doing cover versions. I bought the soundtrack album very very cheaply (there were millions pressed in the expectation it would repeat the success of Saturday Night Fever - it didn't) and so wanted to see the film when it was on TV.

The Bee Gees et al album is ok-ish. None of the songs is done as well as the originals.

The film is bad.
