Brain dead IRC

Yes, I know, lots of people on IRC are brain dead :) But I'm looking for a simple IRC client (running under Windows) that people at work can be trusted with.

When I IRC, I use Trillian. That has too many features (and it also allows access to other IM services which I don't want them using).

I want them to be able to set a nickname (easily, lots of people will be using this PC), pick a channel, and chat. No file uploading / downloading. Even log files are optional.

Do you have the option of an applet? i.e is it to a specific server/channel. Many of the applets run nicely, the user changes their nick and that is about it.

Other than that I'm not really sure what would be best, I have problems finding irc clients which aren't evil. I use mirc for windows and XChat Aqua for the OSX box.

Not really - Java is disabled to stop them using another site's chat.

Well, I only really use IRC to have online meetings with the other members of the server co-op.

I will try to look in there, but no promises.

If you find one can you tell me. We have all chat placed blocked at college, by a netnanny, but I teach special needs adults and we wnat to combine IT with literacy. We are teaching them email and they can email anotehr special needs group at another site, but real time chat does make reading and writing very exciting. I've used it years ago with ESOL groups, before we blocked it.

I found three candidates plus an interesting one with source code - I'm tempted to strip out the bits I don't want (or even just remove their menu entries).

I haven't had time to try them yet, as work's been very busy.
