I was looking at that when I was in London at the weekend. It's quite shockign actually. You can only use the tube in a wheelchair if you need to travel complete lines.
the tube was (originally) designed so as to *not* allow wheelchairs / disabled access. At some locations where it could have been disabled-friendly (at least) choices were made to ensure that it wasn't and it is only with the DLR, JLE and other recent changes that parts of the network are now becoming friendlier in this way.
Tunbridge Wells is further than Amersham (which is roughly at the distance of Tonbridge, as the crow flies)
