Just checking - section 111 of the Adoption and Children Act 2002 finally came into force on the 1st December.

It gives unmarried fathers 'parental responsibility' iff they're named on the birth certificate (until now, you've needed a specific agreement with the mother or order made by a court).

But it only applies to (re-)registrations made on or after that date, doesn't it?

Yep, Shockheaded Peter - complete with the Tiger Lillies - is coming back to the Lyric Hammersmith over Easter next year, for just over two weeks.

It is the best theatre show I have ever seen, "just a little bit different".

Because the prats who designed the site used frames (and didn't provide a noframes options), I can't give a direct link, but visit http://www.lyric.co.uk - what's on - and select SHP from the theatre picklist. Then buy some tickets.

Andrew Stunell 'won' the private members bill ballot last week - any idea what he's going to do?

Lembit Opik came twelfth, but that's probably a bit low to have a chance of succeeding in getting anything passed.

You're an MP, on the back benches for your party of choice. You've just come top of the ballot to introduce a 'Private Members Bill' - a chance to introduce a new law in any area you choose. You're guaranteed time to have it debated properly and it might even be passed.

Lots of big changes have been introduced this way and 'moral issues' bills are particularly important in this regard: the Abortion and Sexual Offences Acts of 1967 both started life as PMBs.

So...
