We like travelling by Eurotunnel: it's fast and doesn't suffer from the weather or (much) from industrial action.

But a £150 premium over travelling by ferry? (£220+ vs £70)

Erm, no thanks.

Maybe that's one of the reasons why you're in such deep financial shit.

What is the delay time in getting in the tunnel? When we did the ferry thing, we had to wait several hours until there was a spot for the car in one of the ferries. It took like forever to get in.

You can often get cheaper ferries than £70 - SpeedFerries (http://www.speedferries.com) can be extremely cheap, and do Dover-Boulogne, so are not affected by the ongoing trouble at Calais (except perhaps to be busier than they would otherwise).

I'd use Eurotunnel every time but for the vast cost. The main reason they're in such deep financial shit, though, is the vast mountain of debt they have - ISTR it's of the order of £5bn. The bunch of clowns who took over in 2004 seem to be doing even worse than the old bosses, to the surprise of nobody but themselves.
