Is there a way to get gmail to automatically stick labelled emails into a folder, rather than clog up the general inbox?

You can setup a filter to give it a label, and at the same time archive it, so it skips the inbox.

Tried that. Doesn't work (for me, anyway!)

the label/archive thing seems to work sometimes for me, and sometimes not ... and i've never worked out quite why.
