What about the 'new' in 'news'?
Feb. 2nd, 2006 03:05 pmThe very wonderful telesales 'counterscript' is currently flavour of the week with newspapers in the UK. They've all had articles about this exciting new way to fight back.
Why now? This 'story' is at least three years old!
I know it's a bit snobbish, but the coverage has stopped me using it...

Cold calling does seem to be in the news at the moment, though. There was a really interesting piece in the Guardian magazine the other Saturday about a cold calling centre, what it's like to be a cold caller, and the techniques used to motivate staff. It was really interesting, but the conclusion was that it's a dying industry in the UK, as more and more people are registered with the TPS. Apparently companies are now outsourcing to foreign call centres, because the TPS doesn't apply to calls made outside the UK.
Did you get my email btw? :-)
