Firefox 3 on Ubuntu 8.10 is a pile of poo and crashes far, far too often. Firefox 3 on Windows or Ubuntu 8.04 doesn't do this:

The program 'firefox' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadIDChoice (invalid resource ID chosen for this connection)'.
(Details: serial 31681594 error_code 14 request_code 155 minor_code 4)

Program exited with code 01.

or

Program received signal SIGPIPE, Broken pipe.
[Switching to Thread 0x41ec1950 (LWP 20714)]

or .. far too many examples to mention - I have given up recording them all.

It does not help that Flash is a pile of buggy poo, but 99% of Flash is blocked here (ads, mostly). Even so, a single run shows

Yes, it is a total pain in the arse. It was about as bad in the previous Ubuntu version. I'm switching to Chrome as soon as a Linux version is available.

I use Epiphany instead of Firefox and Flash 10 on Ubuntu 8.10 amd64 and don't seem to be seeing any problems (currently running 24 windows and often several tabs per window).

The main thing that pisses me off about 8.10 is that they killed session management in Gnome 2.24 so I have to explicitly ask to recover my windows in Epiphany when I close down and restart. This also affect my WP and spreadsheet programs as well. This had been working fine in 8.04 and was what made Epiphany better than Firefox.

i have had no issue with it on windows of any variety but on my mac's one running leopard and one tiger it is unstable as anything leopard more so.

I have had random shutting down errors, to freezing constantly and also the rss and bookmarks on leopard are screwed!!

i have contemplated rolling back or just using safari but i LOVE my webmasters tool bar on firefox too much...
