It pains me to say this, but..

Firefox 3 on Ubuntu 8.10 is a pile of poo and crashes far, far too often. Firefox 3 on Windows or Ubuntu 8.04 doesn't do this:
or
or .. far too many examples to mention - I have given up recording them all.
It does not help that Flash is a pile of buggy poo, but 99% of Flash is blocked here (ads, mostly). Even so, a single run shows
etc etc etc.
The program 'firefox' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadIDChoice (invalid resource ID chosen for this connection)'.
(Details: serial 31681594 error_code 14 request_code 155 minor_code 4)
Program exited with code 01.
or
Program received signal SIGPIPE, Broken pipe.

Date: 2009-01-23 01:31 pm (UTC)It depends on how soon you can do things like generic ad blocking, say 'only show me Flash I specifically choose to see' and cope with lots of tabs. I got the feeling that - for some strange reason - Google doesn't see ad blocking as a priority.
Opera doesn't make a fuss about being able to do it, but every time I run a browser without it, I see how necessary it is.

Date: 2009-01-23 10:45 pm (UTC)The main thing that pisses me off about 8.10 is that they killed session management in Gnome 2.24 so I have to explicitly ask to recover my windows in Epiphany when I close down and restart. This also affect my WP and spreadsheet programs as well. This had been working fine in 8.04 and was what made Epiphany better than Firefox.

Date: 2009-02-03 11:27 am (UTC)I can't even find a way to save more than one tab as a bookmark in Epiphany... although it's not crashed on me yet.

Date: 2009-02-04 02:05 pm (UTC)I did previously discover the only ways to get it to remember the session: either make it crash or close down the entire Gnome session without closing the browser first! Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Date: 2009-01-23 01:30 pm (UTC)I have had random shutting down errors, to freezing constantly and also the rss and bookmarks on leopard are screwed!!
i have contemplated rolling back or just using safari but i LOVE my webmasters tool bar on firefox too much...
