I've restarted using Spotify (it runs fine under WINE) and I haven't heard an ad in ages.

Has their ad server died or is it just me or...

I forget where I first heard this, but I'm told that if you run it in wine you don't get the adverts at all. (I don't use Spotify so can't verify it, but anecdotally you would appear to have done just that)

Hmm, I certainly used to get them after every couple of tracks, hence the popularity - here - of the 30 minute Drummers of Burundi track :)

But if true, result! :)

Someone has reported this as a bug! It looks like you need a recent version of wine for this effect.
