I take it that you've seen this: Volvo try out automatic driving vehicles on a real motorway.

What are the terms of that bet you mentioned on Twitter, and are you interested in making the same bet with other people?

Heh :) I hadn't seen that! The bet was an inflation-adjusted £50 that, ten years from now, there would be commercial driverless vehicles in London traffic. I'm a little less confident of winning since I made the bet - Google's cars aren't quite as far along as I thought - so I shan't make it again just now :)

It was the definition of 'commercial' I was thinking about - do you mean 'available to mere mortals to purchase' in the same way that electric cars are now commercial, or 'owned by a business that can afford the immense legal liabilities'?

As I've said, I think it's the legal side that will make this a hard bet to win, because obviously it's technically possible. I would love to know what that stunt cost Volvo for insurance.
