More or less since I started using my Dreamwidth account, the footer on the crossposts to LJ has said that one reason for moving is that I've had enough of LJ's owners being evil. It was the automatic addition of (their) affiliate codes to links in people's posts, regardless of whether that broke links or replaced the poster's codes, that was the prod for doing it.

Now, as well as trying to move onto the 'other sites are doing active, infinitely long pages, we must do it too' friends list view, they're about to cancel paid accounts. Not that they've said so to the English-speaking users yet...

You can currently join Dreamwidth.org without an invite code. (Should they reintroduce them, ask for one.) It really is easy to copy stuff from LJ to DW. It's much easier to use on a mobile. Why not join it now, before the rush?

Thanks for the link. The permanent account was keeping me with LJ, and the lack of a code.

It really is *very* easy to migrate isn't it?

Not sure if I'm making the full transition yet, but I already notice some features here that look interesting.....

Dunno if you've seen it, but they say they aren't doing away with paid accounts, just moving to a different charging model where you can pick and mix what you want as added extras. The panic was according to them caused by poor translation from the Russian.
