Another US remake to avoid
Nov. 27th, 2012 05:22 pmOK, I've not got very far into the first episode, but the US remake of The Inbetweeners is looking like it's another disaster, missing out most of what made the original work.
For one thing, they beep the language (at least on the MTV broadcast), and there aren't even enough beeps.
It's apparently on E4 in just over a week. See the originals instead.

Date: 2012-11-28 05:17 pm (UTC)It's about four 16/17 year old boys. I quite like the description of it as being Peep Show (like so many British comedies, it features more or less loveable losers) meets American Pie (they're obsessed with sex, specifically losing their virginities).
The series are great, with at least a couple of genuine 'laugh out loud' moments, usually around the appalling behaviour of the boys. The film has about one and a half episodes of material stretched out over the length of three. It flopped badly in the US and I can understand why: as well as the language and cultural issues, if you haven't seen the series, there is nothing to like about the main characters.
