Just back from seeing this with L, Liam (8) and Jo Anna (four weeks). Liam loved it, Jo Anna fed and slept through nearly all of it, but I was less gripped. For a film about magic, it's surprisingly unmagical...

Most of the special effects aren't that good - whenever they've got the chance, they cheat.

On the plus side, it's not an insult to the viewer's intelligence. The acting's OK.

Towards the end, Jo Anna became unsettled, so I took her outside. Fortunately, you could see and hear what was going on, because I was interested enough to find out what was going to happen, but no way was I going to sit through all of this again to do so.

Mind you, I've yet to read any of the books.

Seeble - as they say on alt.poly. I thought I was the only adult in the country who hadn't read any Harry Potter! Glad to hear I'm not.
