Open source trying to be like Microsoft/Apple in the wrong way

Upgrading any flavour of Ubuntu 15.04 to Ubuntu 15.10? Got AMD/ATI graphics and using the AMD flgrx drivers?

It won't work.

The developers have known this for over six weeks and didn't think this was important enough to halt the release. Or to mention this in at least one flavour's release notes.

Certainly, strange that they'd kick out a prominent release (and indeed, the one you're guided to by default at the moment, along with 14.03 LTS) with such a major issue, and no warning to affected users.

Reminds me, I should probably update my Linux SD Card to 14.03 - think it's something like 12.10 at the moment. (Generally, it's much easier to use a VM, but that's not a good option for OpenCL development, where I need both GPUs exposed natively)

I think my favorite OS X bug had to be in.. think it was one of the early developer betas for the last Yosemite update. Someone had b0rked the window server sufficiently that several (but not all, curiously) apps couldn't update their windows, only instantiate them, leading to the pleasantly surreal alternative of only the windows' shadows being visible. Not terribly practical, however, so I just reverted to the last public release.

It'll be amusing to find out who made the call to not only kick out 15.04 in that condition. I'd guess it's just a matter of that bug not being on anybody's radar. Which maybe raises the point of semantics in bug tracking - what's a good priority for a bug that's a showstopper, but only for a segment of the userbase? Arguably, it should remain at that top "showstopper" level, regardless, unless it only affects some vanishingly small number. Perhaps better would be a two-part priority - the severity, and the likelihood a random user will be affected.
