Spotted in the shops...
Dec. 2nd, 2001 12:23 pmYesterday in Sainsbury's - 'Happy Easter' chocolate. Gasp.
Last week in Tesco's - 'Healthy Low Calorie' orange juice. Looking at the ingredients, this translates as they've watered down some orange juice and added some sugar. And upped the price.

Its.. Not even Christmas?
Wah??
And Orange juice has "high calories" to become low calorie??
But surely - If the commercial industries didn't put so much crap in orange juice in the first place then it should be just "au naturel" and alright? Surely? Or is there something incidious (sp?) in oranges that I have been eating in the past?
Odd...

Over 90g in a litre, in fact. Tesco halve that by diluting it, then put some (but not all) back so it tastes sweet!
A couple of years ago, several supermarkets - including Sainsbury's - were found to have added apple juice to their 'pure' orange juice to make it sweeter and cheaper to make. What caught them out was that the sugars are different...

Yeah. I have a litre of the Tesco stuff in my fridge ATM - Will have to check it out - But yeah - I have noticed 'other' fruit juices being in 'other' fruit juices. Apple and pear are some of the bizarrer additions.
Heh - Goodness knows what goes into Um-Bongo!
